VANCOUVER SUN JULY 2, 1997 An East Vancouver man is in hospital and his wife in police custody after she cut off his penis during a domestic dispute early Tuesday morning. His wound is not life-threatening, but re-attachment is impossible because the woman "flushed the part down the toilet," Vancouver city police Constable Rob Brunt said. "It was a domestic love triangle," Brunt said "The man was sleeping at the time," he added Police had the woman in custody Tuesday, pending charges. No names were released. Constable Terry McHardy said police were called to the 40-year-old man's Union Street home about 5 a.m. Tuesday after he was assaulted. Emergency crews alerted police after they received a call to 911 from someone requesting an ambulance to the home. The 40-year-old male was sleeping when his wife apparently used a knife or cleaver to cut off his penis. His wife was arrested and he was taken to hospital. "The investigation is ongoing because he is not in a condition to give a statement at this time," said McHardy. The man underwent emergency surgery at Vancouver General Hospital Tuesday evening. Police said the victim and his wife had six chilren. UPDATE.......JULY 6,1998 DUE TO THE FACT THE HUSBAND HAS LEFT THE WIFE WHO IS NOW THE SOLE SUPPORTER OF SIX CHILDREN..... THE JUDGE IN THIS CASE IN A SENTENCING HEARING TODAY HAS SENTENCED THIS WOMAN TO 2 YEARS "CONDITIONAL" IN ESSENCE THIS MEANS 2 YEARS PROBATION WITH NO JAIL TIME.
